I have seen a description of some software called 'Action Drums' that seems to be exactly what I'm looking for but the site seems to have shut down. Does anyone know of any similar software?What software would allow me to programme my drum machine via midi?if you intend to work with midi i would suggest the following progs

all good programs just depends what you want to do really.
You basically are talking about sequencers and using them for drums.
